This past week our family took a staycation to Solon Springs, WI to discover what the little town has to offer!
Wanderlust Vacation Rentals offered the perfect place to stay for three nights. Suite Evelyn was a charming retro themed suite that offered an open living room space, fully stocked kitchen, and a beautiful bedroom donned with a Queen-sized bed complete with luxury linens and down pillows.
The intricate details of this vacation rentals design and functionality were extremely thoughtful. The bathroom had extra toiletry items that someone may have forgotten as well as cozy robes to get in to post shower. The kitchen was very well stocked for a short-term rental. I even found a grater to make freshly grated cheese for our spaghetti! The coffee bar was complete with three syrup choices to add some sweetness to your drink. These are just a couple examples of the personalized touches I found and are exactly what I look for when choosing a high-quality rental!
Adjacent to Suite Evelyn is Suite Clara. Suite Clara is also exquisitely designed and full of character. When booking, you can choose to book both suites to sleep up to 8 guests! Dalton and I were discussing that it would be the perfect rental to choose if staying somewhere with friends. It offers the ideal balance between being together but also each couple/family having their personal space to return to at any point.
The location of this rental was also a huge perk. Located right next to Lucius Woods County Park you are steps away from the Lucius Woods Performing Arts Center and the beach! With your stay you can choose to rent kayaks or pontoons and the owners, Dustin & Ashley, will have them ready for you at the landing! Check out the Lucius Woods Performing Arts Center (https://lwmusic.org/) schedule for local concerts! We can say we honestly didn’t know this venue existed prior to this trip.
A mile walk from Suite Evelyn & Clara is town. Dalton, Mia, and I checked out The Little Gift House (https://www.thelittlegifthouse.com/) and coffee shop! This little shop held a great selection of items and the little coffee shop in the back was the perfect place for a treat. We even had a slice of pecan pie! The chai was delicious and they sold what they served! So, naturally I took some home to make for myself.
For lunch we hopped into our car and drove to Hidden Greens North (https://hiddengreensnorth.com/). I was quite impressed with the menu! I tried the turkey & swiss with jalapeño blueberry jam and it was delicious! I was torn between that and their Autumn Salad which had all the makings of an explosion of fall flavor.
While we didn’t get to check it out because it’s seasonal, the owners of Wanderlust Vacation Rentals own The Bake Shoppe! https://www.facebook.com/ssthebakeshoppe/. As a guest, you receive 10% off on your order when you visit. You may even receive a special treat during your stay Dalton and I will have to go back this summer and check it out!
We also took a day trip to Duluth to explore since Solon Springs is only about 45 minutes away. Overall, this little staycation surprised us in the best way! When we first told people that we were going to Solon Springs, we were asked “What is there to do there?” our initial response was, “We aren’t sure, but we’ll find out!”. We discovered a little town that has beautiful fall scenery and some hidden gems that is also conveniently located to other desired destinations! Whether you’re attending a wedding at The Atrium (https://solonspringsatrium.com/), have guests that want to stay close to Hayward and/or Duluth, or want to go on a staycation yourself, we highly suggest checking out Wanderlust Vacation Rentals!
