Get your popcorn buckets ready, because 2022’s movie line-up is what we’ve all been waiting for, especially as movies that have been delayed are finally hitting the silver screen. Below, you’ll find some of the films that I’m most excited to see this year!
Mutants, the Batmobile, and Anti-Heroes
It’s no surprise that there are a number of superhero movies coming out this year. If Spider-Man: Far from Home’s box office turnout is any indication; the world still loves a Marvel flick. Over the next few months, we can look forward to Morbius and DC’s The Batman. Both share a darker tone and ask the heroes if their endeavors are worth the cost. In May, superheroes and villains (and a lot of them) will take to the screen in Sam Raimi’s Doctor Strange: Multiverse of Madness. The next installment in Marvel’s cinematic universe promises familiar faces with Benedict Cumberbatch and Elizabeth Olsen, playing Doctor Strange and the Scarlet Witch, as well as countless rumors of possible cameos, ranging from John Krasinski to Tom Cruise.
Hitting the Ground Running
I can never resist a nonstop action movie and 2022 is bound to give us some that knock it out of the park. The 355 features an all-star cast, all bringing a wealth of action experience to the table in a film where spies from rival agencies across the globe come together to tackle a universal threat. Tom Holland swings his way from one hit to another potential blockbuster in Uncharted, a thriller based on the popular video game. Lastly, toeing the line between action and thriller, Death on the Nile has me brushing off my Agatha Christie and chomping at the bit to get back into the theater. Delayed multiple times, the Kenneth Branagh feature hits the big screen in February and promises a murder mystery that will have audiences guessing until the very end (unless you’ve read the book, that is).
Looking at this list, I’ve got my Milk Duds and blue slushy ready to go. What movies are you excited to see this year?
