8-3-2019: The Whistle Punk Tap List

August 3rd
—————————————
Saison Olivia
BELGIAN-STYLE SAISON // 7.4% ABV
Angry Minnow Brewing // Hayward, Wisconsin
One of our all time favorite Minnow beers. Floral, herbal, zesty, and drinkable as hell. Just like your summer fling, this one isn’t around long enough.

Hazy ‘Bout You IPA
HAZY IPA // 6.6% ABV
Earth Rider Brewing & Ursa Minor Brewing // Superior, Wisconsin & Duluth, Minnesota
Twin Ports collaboration at its haziest! This bright, juicy nugget is all of the hops you want, featuring Bravo and Cashmere, but with a rock solid malt body that finishes like a soft summer breeze.
><><><
Green Zebra
GERMAN-STYLE GOSE W/ WATERMELON // 4.6% ABV
Founders Brewing Co // Grand Rapids, Michigan
Here’s the tart, refreshing summer beer you’ve been searching for; perfectly suited for sharing at a hot summer picnic or BBQ. No zebras were harmed in the making of this zippy, straw golden quencher.

Schell’s IPA
AMERICAN IPA // 5.8% ABV
August Schell Brewing Co // New Ulm, Minnesota
I wasn’t sure I’d ever see the day that Schell’s brewed an IPA, it’s not exactly a traditional German style. However, they are not ones to fall behind the times, and this is a very tasty entry into a very crowded part of the market. Relatively light bodied, but with fresh candied citrus and rich hop aromas, leading to a pleasantly dry finish. You stay classy New Ulm!

Brett Stout
BRETT IMPERIAL STOUT AGED IN WINE BARRELS // 11.3% ABV
Lagunitas Brewing Co // Petaluma, California
It ain’t your granddaddy’s stout. This massive, inky beast has been given quite a decadent treatment: a mixed culture fermentation consisting of brettanomyces and lactobacillus, then aged in Somoma County red wine barrels for up to 4 years. All of that adds up to roughly a chocolate cake soaked in tart cherry wine with whisps of rustic farmhouse funk. Even for an outrageous brewery this is fringe. Wonderfully fringe, I think that was the original name that the marketing team came up with.

Short Pants
LEMON SHANDY // 4.5% ABV
Bauhaus Brew Labs // Minneapolis, Minnesota
A sunshiney golden ale made with wheat and a combination of lemon zest, concentrate, and puree. Well made, and not sickeningly sweet. Best enjoyed with your shins out.
><><><
Flamingo Dreams NITRO
BLONDE ALE WITH BLACK CURRANT AND RASPBERRY // 4.7% ABV
Left Hand Brewing Co // Longmont, Colorado
Hard to imagine a more fitting name for this beer. Have your beer and fashion statement too. The bright magenta color comes from black currants and raspberries, which are used delicately in combination of the velvet mouthfeel from the nitrogen. Drink pink!
><><><
Treeshaker Imperial Peach IPA
IMPERIAL IPA W/ PEACH // 8% ABV
Odell Brewing Co // Fort Collins, Colorado
Among the many delicious things from Colorado are their famous peaches. Give these beauties to the hop geniuses at Odell and you’ve got the glory that is Treeshaker.
><><><
Hefeweissbier Dunkel
DARK GERMAN HEFEWEIZEN // 5.3% ABV
Weihenstenphaner Brewery // Freising, Germany
A highly underrepresented style from the oldest continuously operating brewery in the world. Also, one of the best pairings for almost anything you would grill or sear. Intrigued? This is a sleeper every summer, super refreshing, but with ample caramelly malt body and bright fruity esters.
><><><
Louie’s Demise
AMBER ALE // 5.5% ABV
Milwaukee Brewing Co // Milwaukee, Wisconsin
A supremely well balanced amber with a murderous backstory. Enjoy this malty, maven in good company, but don’t find yourself hitting on the wrong lady at the bar or you’ll wind up like Louie.
><><><
Hop Star
SESSION IPA // 4.9% ABV
Fulton Brewing Co // Minneapolis, Minnesota
It’s all of the hops you love, but with less of the booze. This is a particularly delicious execution of a style that has effectively transformed the American Pale Ale category. Makes for a great mid-bike-ride sipper, because IPAs.
><><><
Equinox Hopped Cider
APPLE CIDER W/ HOPS // 5.9% ABV
The Cider Farm Cidery // Mineral Point, Wisconsin
A bright, semi-sweet cider adds a layer of citrus and dry snappy finish from the addition of Equinox hops. Hops: not just for beer anymore.
><><><
Lemon Lime Kombucha
KOMBUCHA // 0.5% ABV
Deane’s Kombucha // Minneapolis, Minnesota
It’s sort of like new age Sprite. Except instead of rotting out your teeth, this refreshing citrus magic will improve your digestive health!
><><><
Swinging Axe Pilsner
GERMAN-STYLE PILSNER // 4.5% ABV
Lucette Brewing Co // Menomonie, Wisconsin
The official beer of the Lumberjack World Championships in Hayward! A nice, bright, sturdy pilsner that is perfect for cutting, climbing, rolling and boom running.
><><><
Organic Noms Berry Delight Tea NITRO
HERBAL TEA: BLEND OF ROSEHIPS, ROOIBOS, HIBISCUS, RASPBERRY, AND STEVIA // 0% ABV
Cup of Té // Toronto, Canada
Bright red, and smells like a fresh fruit punch. Tangy, but with a touch of sweetness makes this something you can really put back on a hot summer day. All organic, all delicious, and caffeine free.

Crazy Juice Cold Brew Coffee NITRO
COLD BREWED COFFEE // 0% ABV
Duluth Coffee Co. // Duluth, Minnesota
